Testimonials From South Carolina

2011

To Potential Customers of Student Painters:

I saw the advertisement for Student Painters on the side of Alex’s truck in the Lowe’s parking lot in Easley on 5/19/11. I talked to Alex about the organization and asked if we could get a free estimate on staining/painting our deck. He took my name and number and said you would give me a call. Alex was very prompt and called me the next day to set up an appointment for the free estimate on Saturday 5/21/11. I had to work that day but my wife said you showed up promptly at 11:30 A.M. She he was very professional, knowledgeable, thorough, and polite. You took your time with the estimate and explained it in detail to her so she could review it with me.

With all that being said, I wanted to commend you personally for representing Student Painters in such a professional and competent manner. Your organization should be very proud of you. I am sure you are going to go far with whatever career path Alex chooses. Any future employer would benefit from your talents.

Again, great job and you are to be commended for your professionalism. The quality, professionalism, and attitude Alex portrayed were exceptional.

Recommendation from Richard & Leslie Edwards:Our current residence was built in the early 1990’s and we bought it in 1998. As of this summer (2011) no painting had been done on our house so it was in pretty bad shape. Alex Dalpiaz of Student Painters was canvassing our sub-division this spring and caught us just as we came home one day. We agreed to let him give us a quote for the work, something we had considered for quite some time. He went above and beyond explaining to us what needed to be done, how it would be done and when it would be done.

When we saw the quote, we were quite surprised, thinking we were looking at paying a lot more for what needed to be done. We closed the deal and Alex scheduled the work for late May/early June. He continued to touch bases with us up until the time the work was to be done, personally bringing color samples back to us on one occasion and coming about a week early to pressure wash what was going to get painted.

Just as they promised, Student Painters showed up on the day they said they would and began painting our home. They were at our home for a day and a half. When the job was completed, we were extremely pleased. They were very meticulous and treated our home like it was their own. They cleaned up after their work and left things in great shape. And their workmanship was exactly what we would have expected from anyone. It made quite a difference and is a great investment in preserving the condition of one’s home.

Alex is young but mature well beyond his years. He “manages” the business and is always available to answer any questions or to address any concerns. We highly recommend Alex and Student Painters for any of your painting needs.

Dear Mr. Acorn:After initially agreeing to having Student Painters paint my house, buyer’s remorse began to set in -it was a good deal price-wise… maybe too good. In my experience, the old saying “you get what you pay for” seems to hold true. However, after working with David Cox through the initial arrangements, I began to feel more comfortable about my decision. David helped coordinate their repairs needed prior to painting, including finding a carpenter and roofer to assist. The results of this prep work were very satisfactory.

As for the final paint job, I am very pleased. I was home that day and did my best to micro-manage the project for the first few hours. Then I let it go and just trusted David and his team would get things done right. They did a great job. Prepped, caulked, and painted all in one day. Nicely done and completed without a mess. David showed excellent skills and leadership as the project manager and his hard-working team was very accommodating and considerate of my questions and concerns. I would gladly work with this team again.

I want to offer my thanks to David and Student Painters for making it to my door that Saturday afternoon.

Sincerely,

Dear Mr. Acorn

James Roper is the Student Manager in Columbia, SC and I called him after getting a flyer in my mailbox, and he called me back immediately. He came to my house and we reviewed what needed to be done- power-washing of vinyl after my wood work had been painted recently. He was most courteous and friendly. He set a date for the work to get done, and brought another young man who was very polite also. He did a very good job and I am telling everyone I know about the Student Painters. When I need more painting done, I will call James again.

Sincerely,

To whom it may concern:

James Roper, the Regional Manager for Student Painters, was extremely knowledgeable and professional.  He clearly explained the advantages of the paint they would be using and made excellent suggestions on what would work on my house.

The painter, Jason Gantt, who did most of the work, was punctual, stayed late, and returned several times to touch up the paint and clean the paint off the windows.  Both he and James made it clear from the beginning that my satisfaction was extremely important to them.  They both kept the promises they made to me at the beginning and were pleasant when I pointed out things that needed to be done.

I will be glad to serve as a reference for them to my neighbors and friends.

I became acquainted with the Student Painters when I saw them working in our neighborhood.  I watched them working, observed the quality of their work and was impressed by the work ethics of the group.                I found the young men very capable and conscientious.  They worked diligently and were very timely.  My contact person, James Roper, was organized and easy to work with.  He explained any questions I should ask and kept in touch with the crew and kept me informed about their progress. It was a pleasure to have the crew working here.  They were always on time and worked well with each other.  They did not waste any time during the day.

I was most pleased with the work done on the house.

I am here to say, James Nealon and the group he coordinated to paint my house4 did a marvelous job!  I must say, I hesitated on the age and potential lack of experience. They were all relative perfectionists.  I would not have done as good a job myself!  This is the first year I relented to someone else.

These young men were kind, respectful and a great pleasure to have gotten to know.  They were professional beyond their years.  Despite the heat wave we had, they worked ALL day.

The compliments keep coming.

Dear Mr. Acorn,

I cannot begin to tell you how blessed we feel that Student Painters hung a brochure on our door knob.

We live on a very busy street in Columbia, SC and have many people stop and ask for work.  Unfortunately, we have been burned more than once by unethical roofers, painters, and tree trimmers.  Our house needed to be painted but we were procrastinating as we didn’t know who we could trust.  I called and left a message on the toll free number on a Sunday and got a phone call first thing on Monday morning telling me that Derrick Woodham would call within 48 hours.  Well, it was less than 48 hours and my husband set up a date for Mr. Woodham to come and give us an estimate.  I was shocked when my husband hired him on the spot and gave him a deposit.  When I mentioned how shocked I was to my husband he told me that he was so impressed with Mr. Woodham’s outstanding demeanor.  I was not present when the initial contact was made but my husband, Dean, could not quit talking about Mr. Woodham.  He was just so impressed with his professionalism and how committed he was to his job.  The pressure washing, prep work, and painted were done on the date that Mr. Woodham said it would be.  When the crew arrived every morning they were here at exactly the time they said they would be here.  There was never any playing around on the job-strictly work.  They were professional but yet personable.  I cannot begin to tell you how pleased we are.

I am a retired commercial insurance agent so the insurance coverage that you have was certainly a big factor in my opinion.  The behavior and attitude of the crew members gave us a peace of mind as far as security at our home.  I am not sure if I have a complete list of names of the crew but you can contact Mr. Woodham.  They entire crew was very punctual, courteous, and definitely accepted ownership of their job!  They never left at the end of the day without cleaning up any debris, etc.  I told them one day that I would sweep up the patio and I was told that this was their responsibility.  I was also impressed with the risk management and safety procedures that were followed.  One day it became very dark in the house and I went outside and Mr. Woodham had already been in touch with the crew to call it a day as the storm was close by.  It was a very uplifting experience to see these college students working to earn money for their education instead of going to the beach, etc.  We are so proud of the way our home looks that we told Mr. Woodham he could leave 2 signs in our yard for advertisement as long as he wanted.  A house close by is being renovated and I invited the contractor to look at our house and he too was more impressed.  Thank you for hiring such wonderful people like Mr. Derrick Woodham and his entire crew!  We don’t have any children, but I would be proud to have any of them as a son!

Please feel free to use me as a reference anytime!!!

Dear Sir:

I would like to take this opportunity to let you know how much we appreciated the professionalism and work performed by the Student Painter crew that did our house.  Ryan Ewert was the person who contacted us about their service—we then called him and asked for a quote.  We had already received several quotes from other paint companies, but the price was prohibitive as we had just purchased the home and our house funds were limited.  Ryan met me and discussed what needed to be done (our house is not that old, but had not been painted in quite a while—the colonial blue was actually about 8 different shades due to fading).  Ryan suggested a color that would not take two coats—we just wanted the house to look a lot better before we sided it.  When my husband came home he had a few questions  and Ryan came by one again to discuss the job with him.  Ryan was extremely professional, informative, and courteous.

When it came time for the crew to show up and do the work, they were all very hard working and polite when we came home—moving their equipment so we could get into the garage.  Our house is a split level home with the back area basically on the second lever due to the lay of the yard.  The work was done quicker than I thought it would be, the area was clean, the few areas we asked to be re-painted were done immediately, and the house looks great.  We let everyone know who did the job!

Again, I did fill out the survey, but wanted to convey to you that this crew and leader were one of the most “user friendly” crews that I have worked with in getting things done to our home.

Thank you for the opportunity you give them and the service you give to local homeowners!

To whom it may concern:

Our experience with Student Painters has been nothing but positive.  Arrangements were made a few months in advance to pressure was our house and re-cork the windows.  As the set date approached, we were contacted by Mr. Alleman.  Despite the need to reschedule a couple of days due to the weather, the job was completed on time and to our satisfaction.

Mr. Alleman kept us well informed of his plans and responded to phone calls in a timely manner.  We were very pleased with his work and professionalism and recommend him highly.  We would definitely contact Student Painters again.

Dear Mr. Acorn,

I recently had our house painted by Student Painters.  I am pleased with the results of their work.  The painters were hardworking, coming early and staying late.  They had to work in the hottest June weather on record and around several rain showers, which was quite a challenge.  However, the boys managed to get the job finished without losing too much time.  They were all friendly and I would recommend Student Painters to anyone looking for painters.

Dear Mr. Acorn:

My husband and I wanted to let you know what a great job our painters did on our house.  It went from an ugly light gray to a dark gray (almost black).  I’ve even enclosed pictures.

Zach Forrest was the Branch Manager who stopped at our house.  The painters were such gentlemen and worked extremely hard.

Thanks again.

We could not have been more pleased with our Student Painters! James Roper led a crew of able young men who tackled our house and persisted throughout adverse conditions to complete an excellent job!Although the weather was not too cooperative and the height of our roof, a challenge, they worked without complaint and diligently prepped our home so that the results will be long-lasting. We were amazed at the time, engergy and creativity spent to make sure that the job was done above and beyond our expectations. We had researched having our home painted, getting three estimates. Student Painters came in somewhere in the middle, not too high so as to be prohibitive, nor too low, as to question what the quality of work would be.

We were impressed with the amount of time put into arriving at an estimate by James, and his professional attention to detail. It was nice to have it all laid out and itemized, as well, something we did not receive from the other two painters.On-site, the painters were so quiet sometimes, they were polite and accommodating..we had server storm damage to our property during their time here, and there were several crews of other workers who they had to work around. They even jumped right in and helped to empty a shed that had been smashed by a large tree, so we could move on to rebuilding.Needless to say, we have already recommended Student Painters to our friends and will continue to do so.  We will surely call them when the need arises again, but for what we can tell, we have a qualtiy job that will last a long time!

I am writing on behalf of Zach Forrest and his team. a neighbor recommeded Zach to me. When I contacted Zach, he was very prompt and professional in all or our meetings regarding my home project which included painting, pressure washing and staining various areas of our house. We selected a stain color for our deck to compliment the brick on the house.

Our deck went from a drab, faded, natural wood color to a light redwood color. Initially, my wife was not happy with the color. I told Zach to give us a few days to sleep on our decision. After a few days of sun exposure, the shine soaked in. I put the grill, chairs, table, plants and hanging window boxes back in place. Now the deck really “popped” when you looked at it. Several of our neighbors commented on how nice our deck looks and the transformation that had taken place.

Sincerely,

Dr. Chris Groke

I have been frustrated by repeated attempts to get work done on my house in Sumter, South Carolina. I have often commented to friends and family if only skilled craftsmen would show up on time, be polite, and do the job agreed upon, they would have an excellent business. Student Painters, under the management of Adam Alleman, proved how correct this observation was. In February 2010, I contracted with Student Painters to power wash, prep, and paint my house. I met with Mr. Roper and worked out an agreement to have the work begin in mid-May. Adam Alleman was the contract supervisor and contacted me promptly to arrange the work at a time convenient for my schedule. I was impressed with Adam’s knowledge of the painting business. He took time to explain what needed to be done, which paint option was best for my plans for the house, and he reviewed the original estimator’s work.

Along the way, a number of challenges arose to which Adam responded with sensible alternatives; he rescheduled his work crews, adjusted time schedules, and managed each issue with energy, positive attitude, and good humor. His student painters were polite, on time, worked carefully and completely, and cleaned up the work area thoroughly each night.Adam demonstrated exceptional managerial skills in selecting and training an excellent crew. I felt completely comfortable leaving my house open to them while I was at work. During the final inspection, I noticed a few issues which Adam and his crew leader immediately corrected. The price for the job was fair; the quality of materials excellent, and the whole process was the best I have ever had. Student Painters restored my faith in contractors—I only wish they would expand into home improvements. Adam Alleman demonstrated savvy business, interpersonal, and managerial skills.

I highly recommend Adam and Student Painters—they are the most knowledgeable, courteous, professional business I have had the pleasure of working with!

We have experienced many painting jobs and vendors over the decades. We recently had a truly, professional experience as Student Painters completed our entire home exterior. When we bought our ranch, cedar home nearly 4 years ago, it was somewhat in need of being painted at that time. We knew it had to be done by this year for our home’s protection. We asked around and an acquaintance mentioned Student Painters. We looked at each other and wondered if it would be done right. Fortunately, we both have worked for Fortune companies in various capacities and as consultants and advisors for many years in Atlanta. In other words, we knew exactly how to screen, question, validate, etc.For such an expense, it had to be done right. With our experience in cost assessment, quality control, and risk management, we had confidence it would be completed right due to several factors.

  • Having a detailed plan discussed from start to finish was great. The tasks mentioned were the correct methods for maximizing the long lasting outcome for years to come of the completed work. The beginning focus was on prep work, the foundation of any painting project lasting long.
  • The business preference for addressing all issues on a daily basis was to deal with the project manager on site directly. We didn’t want to have to manage the individual painters so, we were thrilled to know that their was a project manager. And the Regional Manager was always available, in case there were any concerns or unresolved issues, which we never experienced. Jason was an excellent project manager.
  • The quality control included staying organized throughout the project and all were very considerate for keeping the property grounds clean and presentable at all times. Everyday, they finished by cleaning up and returning their ladders and tools to the back of the house neatly.
  • The costing was fair for the discussed work plans to be performed. They did it all by hand with no sprayers. We also had a 2nd coat put on, since we were changing colors plus it was in bad shape anyway. We have seen vendors such as painters that had no plan such as this team had. This plan was very specific and covered countless detailed items. They had the liability coverage and the 1 year guarantee. We didn’t want a cheap “Painter and Son” painting our home for several weeks and skipping prep work or taking other shortcuts. We wanted a proven, successful team system. These young adults were full of drive, focus, sincerity, and were very, very proud of their work.

When it was done, we had numerous neighbors that would stop and compliment us on the extreme beauty of our home. One told us everything looked new, which is what we were thinking! Sometimes we were actually a little embarrassed because it was noticeably better and a touch more distinguished than the other homes in our immediate part of the neighborhood. We got over that in about 2 days, however. We truly had an overwhelming experience with the Student Painters Team and wish all of you a rewarding, successful future.

Sincerely,
