American Brain Tumor Association
Student Painters participated in a fundraiser to support brain tumor research through the American Brain Tumor Association. Below is a letter from one of the families affected by the disease.
“We are writing to thank you for your generous donation to the American Brain Tumor Association (ABTA). My husband Thom Mathis is currently undergoing treatment for 3 brain tumors that were discovered January 3rd. Our June 11th fundraiser at Stoney Creek was a huge success! We are thrilled that so many people came to support our cause. The weather even cooperated. It was an amazing day! Thanks to you, and all our supporters, we were able to donate over $7,000 to the ABTA for research. The way exceeded what we expected. Our 2nd Annual ABTA Fundraiser is scheduled for June 2, 2012. We hope you will choose to support our fight against brain tumors next year.
Love,
The Mathis Family
Thom, Sue & Ryan”

Children’s Miracle Network
Student Painters participated in the 2010 Anchor Bay Triathlon and donated monies from each participant to Sparrow Hospital in Michigan. The proceeds went to help Landon, who suffered from an accidental gun shot wound.
Landon loves sports. When you watch him play you would never know he needs physical and cognitive therapy several times a week.In the fall of 2009, Landon suffered an accidental gunshot wound to his face. The bullet entered through his cheek, below his ear and lodged in the back of his skull. He was taken to the Sparrow Hospital Pediatric ER and placed in a medically induced coma. The next day he underwent brain surgery to reduce swelling and remove a portion of his skull. Another brain surgery would follow. Doctors informed Landon’s family that he might not ever walk, hear or see again.“Landon has remained very positive through this entire experience,” one caregiver said. “[He] is a pleasure to be around…even when he is tired and has been through a long day of therapy.”
Today, 12-year-old Landon endures hours of therapy so he can remain active in sports, especially skateboarding and hockey.

The money will go towards a ground breaking surgery that will help restore Tiffany’s ability to walk. Student Painters donated money toward this charity for every person who participated in this years triathlon.”
The gift you guys gave along with the donation from student painters was absolutely overwhelming. God is SO good and will continue meeting every need we have. We can’t say thank you enough.
I hope these students and leaders can understand what a huge impact and help they have been to Steven and I. Way to go to all of them for giving of themselves for someone else. I wish I could give them each a huge hug! Make sure if I am ever in the same place as any Student Painters that did the triathlon to let me know so I can thank them personally.”
